In my personal opinion my painting is my favorite and most successful. My mom’s an artist and she's the one that does
all the painting, I usually just stick to pencil and paper. It takes guts to be
able to put paint on, now I know what my mom is talking about when she says
that she is nervous to put paint down. I spent the most time on it and really
tried to make it look good. In the leaves I added value, but I had a really hard time getting a color for the shadows. I also
had a ton of fun with it. My favorite part was playing with the green and finding random paint spots on my hands.
There is also a story behind the picture my mom took in Italy.
I learned, grew a ton, and developed new skills/techniques
from doing the value portrait. I learned how to do a face.
People are really hard to make look real because we are used to seeing them
every day and we know what look natural or not. Also it’s always the eyes that,
make the photo really pop. This project helped me to learn value and a lot
more about positive and negative space. I’ve always
struggled with shading and I still think I do. In the portrait I could done a better job at
shading but it was really hard to get it right. The hardest part I would say
has to be the shading at least for me anyways.
The piece of art that i used skills and techniques that i
had learned from previous projects is the game drawing. In class we started
with drawing boxes and then moved to drawing cities. From that I learned the
horizon line and making shapes no look flat. My growth from this project was
with shades, horizon lines, and trying to make shapes, not easy boxes, look
like they aren't flat. My mom taught me a little bit about horizon line, but I
never really understood it until I started the exercises that lead up to this
project. The coloring was difficult because adding blue and purple to a green piece,
doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense. The after math of it was nice
though. Though it wasn’t one of my most favorite projects it did help me
learn a lot.
The chalk mural was my least favorite. I felt that it was
the least important because I didn’t really grow from it and it wasn't fun. I
also hate the grimy feeling of chalk on my hands. So that might be another
reason as to why I’m so opposed to it. Working in a group was nice, but, well, I
don’t know why, but this project just wasn't one of my favorites. I don't
really have a whole lot to talk on about this project. The positive things that
it did have, was team work, and I also learned more about the galaxy. It was a
good informational type project but not really a good art concept project.
This project was and still is my favorite. Making collages is so much fun, but the stencil part, well making it with the xacto knife was hard. Being able to rip up things and do whatever you want with them is always fun. I also have a personal connection to the picture I chose to use as my stencil. I have a lot of friends in or going in to the military. I have also had a lot of relative that I have known how have gone and helped protect our nation. I have a lot of respect for our military and that where the theme came from, but I chose the jets because I've always wanted to fly one. My two dream jets are the F-22 and F-35.
